About Us

The Central Organisation for Private Copying Rights (ZPÜ) is an alliance of nine German collecting societies having the legal status of an entity established under civil law. 

The object of the ZPÜ is to assert claims to remuneration, information and reporting for copies of audio and audiovisual works pursuant to Art. 53 (1) – (2) and Art.60a-60f UrhG (German Copyright Act) against manufacturers, importers and traders of hardware and storage media, where the type of appliance or storage medium is used solely or in combination with other devices, storage media or accessories for the purpose of making such copies.
